UNDER THE DISCO BALL

The Journey of Danny Tenaglia’s Iconic Mirror Ball

Few objects in dance music history are as evocative as the disco ball, and one particular mirror ball has a story as legendary as the DJ who owned it.

Danny Tenaglia, a titan of the electronic music scene, made this disco ball a centerpiece of his iconic parties at Club Vinyl and later Arc in New York City. These venues were more than just nightclubs—they were sanctuaries for music lovers, where Tenaglia’s marathon sets became the stuff of legend.

When Club Vinyl closed its doors, the mirror ball found a new home in Tenaglia’s private loft. There, it continued to shine, illuminating countless intimate gatherings and serving as a symbol of his enduring connection to the roots of dance music culture. In 2023, this cherished piece of nightlife history was auctioned off on Tenaglia’s Amplifyd.com platform, where Danny Espo became its proud new owner.
Today, this historic disco ball has been given a new lease on life. Thanks to Espo’s generosity, it is now on loan and proudly displayed at the newly opened The Ornate Studio, an exciting space dedicated to art and culture. Visitors can marvel at this glittering relic, which not only reflects light but also decades of dancefloor memories.
